COOKING & PREPARATION:
Ingredients:
Frozen smashed prawn paste
Hotpot broth (vegetable, seafood, or any preferred broth)
Vegetables (such as bok choy, mushrooms, Napa cabbage)
Tofu or other hotpot ingredients of your choice
Dipping sauces (soy sauce, sesame oil, chopped garlic, chili sauce)
Instructions:
Thaw the Prawn Paste:
Remove the frozen smashed prawn paste from the freezer and let it thaw in the refrigerator for a few hours or according to package instructions.
Prepare Hotpot Broth:
Heat the hotpot broth in the hotpot or a separate pot on the stove. Ensure its simmering or boiling before adding ingredients.
Shape the Prawn Paste:
Once the prawn paste is thawed, shape it into small balls or patties. You can use a spoon or your hands. The paste is often sticky, so wetting your hands can make it easier to handle.
Cook the Prawn Paste in Hotpot:
Drop the shaped prawn paste directly into the hotpot broth. The paste will cook quickly, and you’ll notice it firming up and changing color. This usually takes a few minutes.
Add Vegetables and Other Ingredients:
Add your desired vegetables, tofu, and any other hotpot ingredients to the simmering broth. Allow them to cook until they are tender.
Serve Hotpot:
Once the prawn paste is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender, your hotpot is ready to serve. The prawn paste will impart a delicious seafood flavor to the broth.
Prepare Dipping Sauces:
While enjoying the hotpot, prepare dipping sauces by mixing soy sauce, sesame oil, chopped garlic, and chili sauce according to your taste.
